THE NEW STATE SALOON | DATED OUTREACH RECORD Prepared October 12, 2026. Public review copy. Privacy revision 2. Fundraiser: Help Us Buy Old State Saloon and Turn It Into a Gay Bar Organizer: Montgomery Kuykendall READING THIS RECORD The four outgoing inquiry bodies below are reproduced as text with explicit redactions. Square-bracketed labels are editorial redaction markers, not words from the original emails. HTML formatting is normalized; these are email transcriptions, not screenshots. Replies and the follow-up are selected excerpts, with quoted history and signatures omitted as marked. Original header dates and their Boise/Mountain equivalents are retained. The raw original EML files and their headers are preserved privately; SHA-256 values identify those originals and are not hashes of these redacted excerpts. REDACTION SCOPE The public copy withholds prospective recipient and staff identities, personal contact details, the organizer's role in and identity of a proposed intermediary, the intermediary's organizational type, named reporting or alternative gift mechanisms, and staff availability details. Personal email addresses can identify people or organizations, so they are withheld too. These omissions protect private discussions and do not indicate that a payment route was approved. The intermediary's type was relevant to acceptance: the October 5 reply expressly declined contributions from that proposed source. That refusal is preserved below, with the source category visibly redacted. The organizer's public name, fundraiser identity, dates, substantive questions, conditions and replies remain. WHAT THE DATES ESTABLISH October 4: Four inquiries sent concerning possible charitable recipients if the campaign contingency becomes necessary. October 5: One recipient replied about gift-source restrictions. October 8: Another recipient proposed further discussion; the organizer agreed to follow up later in October. October 9: A contemporaneous report to Reddit documented allegations that the organizer had taken donations and was not acting on the charitable contingency. The existing private casebook also preserves the October 9 discussion. This is the specific October discussion, not a claim that no criticism existed before then. October 12: GoFundMe confirmed no transfers initiated and total paid out of $0.00, ticket #19940162. The separate evidence PDF and support transcript document that finding. These records establish prior outreach and continuing discussion. They do not establish a finalized recipient, approved payment route, completed charitable gift, or endorsement by any organization. ================================================================ O1 | Montgomery Kuykendall to prospective recipient A Original Date header: Sun, 4 Oct 2026 00:42:43 -0700 Boise / Mountain: 2026-10-04T01:42:43-06:00 Subject: For Philanthropy: possible gift from the Old State Saloon fundraiser Original EML SHA-256: 6e999757ced9897a2c30e457fae7d33b8725bc13a90be5f32cf4b258bdb2e8ae Outgoing message body, with the marked redactions described above. No unmarked body paragraphs omitted. Hello [name redacted] and the [prospective recipient A] philanthropy team, I'm Montgomery Kuykendall, organizer of the GoFundMe to buy Old State Saloon in Eagle and turn it into an LGBTQ+ venue and community space. I'm writing to ask how your gift-acceptance process would apply if the campaign's fallback becomes necessary. The published commitment is that, if we ultimately cannot complete the purchase, remaining funds after documented costs of a good-faith acquisition attempt will go to organizations advancing LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and human rights in Idaho. [prospective recipient A] is one of the examples named. I haven't set an amount or decided on a final distribution. [Organizer's role and proposed intermediary identity redacted.] I'm exploring whether it could administer a distribution, subject to confirming the legal, tax, reporting, and GoFundMe requirements. My goal is a clear public accounting, including properly reportable receipts and disbursements through [named reporting mechanism redacted]. The [proposed intermediary type redacted] route remains under review. Could you help me establish: - Whether you would consider funds from this fundraiser, and whether payment by a [proposed intermediary type redacted] would affect acceptance or require additional review - Whether the appropriate recipient would be the [prospective recipient A], and its exact legal name, EIN, and public-charity classification, distinct from [recipient-specific entity detail redacted] - Whether a gift could be accepted for LGBTQ+ and civil-rights work in Idaho, and the restriction or gift-agreement wording you would need - What source-of-funds documentation and donor attribution you would require, and who should be named on the acknowledgment of receipt Any eventual contribution would support your organization's independent work. No endorsement, political support, or promotion would be requested in return. Please also let me know your requirements for accurately identifying a completed gift in public accounting without implying an affiliation. Campaign for context: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-buy-old-state-saloon-and-turn-it-into-a-gay-bar If this should go to someone else in your gift office, please point me in the right direction. No unmarked body paragraphs omitted. Hi [name redacted], I'm Montgomery Kuykendall, organizer of the effort to buy Old State Saloon in Eagle and turn it into an LGBTQ+ venue and community space. I'm looking into whether the [prospective recipient B] could receive a gift if the fundraiser's published fallback becomes necessary. The campaign says that, if the acquisition ultimately cannot be completed, remaining funds after documented costs of a good-faith acquisition attempt will support organizations advancing LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and human rights in Idaho. Your human-rights education work is why I'm reaching out. The page also mentions [prospective recipient B] in a separate proposal for giving from future venue proceeds; this inquiry concerns only a possible remainder from the acquisition fundraiser. No amount or distribution has been decided. [Organizer's role and proposed intermediary identity redacted.] One option under review is having the [proposed intermediary type redacted] administer a distribution, subject to confirming legal, tax, reporting, and GoFundMe requirements. The goal is transparent accounting, including properly reportable receipts and disbursements through [named reporting mechanism redacted]. I want to understand whether that involvement would raise concerns for [prospective recipient B] before choosing a route. Would your gift office consider funds with this provenance, including a payment from a [proposed intermediary type redacted]? If so, could you confirm: - The correct direct-gift receiving entity, EIN, and public-charity classification, and whether any board or other approval is needed - Whether a gift can be restricted to [prospective recipient B]'s human-rights education and community work in Idaho, and the wording you would require - What documentation and donor attribution you need, and whether you can provide an acknowledgment without tickets, registrations, sponsorship, or other donor benefits - How a completed gift could be described in the campaign's public accounting without suggesting endorsement of the [proposed intermediary type redacted] or the acquisition effort I'm asking about a potential gift to [prospective recipient B] itself, so please flag if a proposed program would instead require a separate endowment or other receiving arrangement. No unmarked body paragraphs omitted. Hello [prospective recipient C] Development team, I'm Montgomery Kuykendall, organizer of a GoFundMe to purchase Old State Saloon in Eagle, Idaho and create an LGBTQ+ venue and community space. Before considering [prospective recipient C] as a possible recipient, I need to understand whether the gift's purpose and source could fit your policies. The campaign's published fallback says that, if the acquisition ultimately cannot be completed, remaining funds after documented good-faith acquisition costs will go to organizations advancing LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and human rights in Idaho. No amount or final distribution has been decided. Because [prospective recipient C] works nationally, could you accept and separately account for a gift restricted to work benefiting LGBTQ+ young people in Idaho? If so, what work could it support and what written restriction and aggregate reporting could you provide? I would still need to verify that the proposed use fulfills the promise to contributors. [Organizer's role and proposed intermediary identity redacted.] I'm exploring whether it could administer a distribution, subject to confirming legal, tax, reporting, and GoFundMe requirements. The purpose would be transparent public accounting, including properly reportable receipts and disbursements through [named reporting mechanism redacted]. Would that proposed [proposed intermediary type redacted] involvement affect your willingness to accept the funds or require additional approval? I also reviewed your published third-party fundraising terms. The original effort was independently organized to acquire a bar, and its fallback expressly allows documented acquisition-attempt expenses before a residual donation. Given your provisions about remitting all fundraiser proceeds and use of your name or logo alongside alcohol-related content, would a later gift from this campaign require separate written approval or different terms? I don't want to assume that a general fundraising guide authorizes this situation. If there is a workable path, please confirm the receiving legal entity, EIN, public-charity classification, required source documentation, and how the fundraiser source and any administering payer should be identified in an acknowledgment. Please also explain how a completed gift could be publicly accounted for without implying [prospective recipient C]'s endorsement of the [proposed intermediary type redacted] or acquisition project. No political support or promotional benefit is being requested. No unmarked body paragraphs omitted. Hi [name redacted], I'm Montgomery Kuykendall, organizer of the GoFundMe to purchase Old State Saloon in Eagle and create an LGBTQ+ venue and community space. Given [prospective recipient D]'s relationships with LGBTQ+ organizations across Idaho, I'm asking whether an existing Idaho-focused fund could be an appropriate destination if the campaign's fallback becomes necessary. The published commitment is that, if the acquisition ultimately cannot be completed, remaining funds after documented good-faith acquisition costs will support organizations advancing LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and human rights in Idaho. No amount or final distribution has been decided. I would need a restriction that preserves that Idaho purpose rather than assuming a general regional gift meets it. [Organizer's role and proposed intermediary identity redacted.] I'm exploring whether it could administer a distribution, subject to confirming legal, tax, reporting, and GoFundMe requirements. The goal is transparent public accounting, including properly reportable receipts and disbursements through [named reporting mechanism redacted]. Would [prospective recipient D] consider these fundraiser proceeds, and would the proposed [proposed intermediary type redacted] involvement affect acceptance or require additional review? Could you help me determine: - Whether there is an existing fund or other straightforward gift arrangement that can accept a binding Idaho restriction for LGBTQ+ rights and community work - What written terms, minimum gift, administrative fees, expected use timing, and aggregate reporting would apply - The exact receiving entity, EIN, and public-charity classification, and whether it would be a direct restricted gift rather than a [alternative gift mechanism redacted] - What source documentation, donor attribution, and acknowledgment of receipt would be required Any eventual gift would support independent charitable work, with no request for endorsement or political support. Please also let me know how a completed gift could be described in public accounting without suggesting a partnership with or support for the [proposed intermediary type redacted]. I’ve reached out to some of my [prospective recipient D] colleagues about this, and our thinking is that it would be good to set up a Zoom meeting with you to talk more to address your questions. Just so you know, [prospective recipient D] does accept restricted gifts for the restriction named, and also has a [alternative gift mechanism redacted] program, so it’s possible we might be able to help pass these funds along. We just think having a call with you would be a good first step to learn more. One of our staff who likely would want to be on that call is [staff role and personal availability redacted]. Could we follow back up with you [staff availability detail redacted] and see about scheduling a call with you later in the month? Just let me know if that would work. ================================================================ F1 | Montgomery Kuykendall to prospective recipient D Original Date header: Thu, 8 Oct 2026 18:51:01 -0700 Boise / Mountain: 2026-10-08T19:51:01-06:00 Subject: Re: Idaho-restricted gift inquiry for [prospective recipient D] Original EML SHA-256: 7fd761d87c5c5518167e33c92146892651f688073300f7666164b31c41394b5b Follow-up message body. I am requesting review of a Reddit submission that identifies me personally, accuses me of financial misconduct, and encourages readers to submit fraud complaints against me. This sent report proves what was reported on October 9. The date and content of the underlying discussion are additionally recorded in the existing private casebook from October 10, based on preserved public page captures. A fresh public Reddit fetch was unavailable during this review. The report is not a finding by Reddit. PUBLIC DISCLOSURE Recipient and staff identities, personal contact details, proposed intermediary details and named mechanisms are withheld as described above; staff signatures, routing headers, quoted message history and private casebook contents are omitted. This public copy does not disclose enough to independently evaluate the withheld payment route. It does preserve the acceptance objection and the fact that the discussions were exploratory. Original source material remains private and unaltered. No organization is presented as a partner or as having accepted a gift.
